Supportive Housing is permanent housing with indefinite leasing or rental assistance paired with supportive services to assist homeless persons with a disability or families with an adult or child member with a disability achieve housing stability. Supportive housing projects in New York provide secure, stable, high-quality accommodations and services to many populations who would otherwise end up in more expensive, institutional settings such as congregate shelters, prisons or public institutions. With more than 50,000 units of supportive housing, New York continues to lead the nation in providing a permanent solution to homelessness (SHNNY).
